Pedro Pascal may be one of Hollywood's biggest stars now, but at one point his girlfriend Sarah Paulson helped him out as he struggled to land an acting job.

The 'American Horror Story' star and longtime friend of Pascal recalled their relationship in an Esquire profile published on Tuesday, revealing that she gave Pascal money she earned from her work as a actress, to help feed her.

“He spoke about it publicly,” Paulson said. "But there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I worked for so he would have money to support himself."

Paulson added that Pascal, 48, is the kind of actor you can't help but root for: "You just want him to be successful," he said.

"And that, to me, is the mark of a great movie star. I'm ready for him to take the reins from the rom-com guys of the past like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson and all those guys. He maybe all of that. Let's do a remake of 'Die Hard' with Pedro. He remakes all the 'Lethal Weapon' movies with Pedro."

After graduating from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 1997, Pascal landed roles in CBS' The Mentalist, NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and several other television shows before moving on. land starring roles in the hit Disney+ series. The Mandalorian in 2019 and HBO's The Last of Us earlier this year.

When Pascal moved to New York to attend college, he became close friends with Paulson, and the two shared a love of filmmaking.

"We've been watching movies all the time for those years," Pauslon said. “And we got so lost in them. You can fill in the blanks why all you want, but I think there were things I wanted to get away from mentally, emotionally and spiritually."
