Less than two weeks after its third season premiered in October 2021, HBO announced that the Emmy-winning drama had been confirmed for a fourth episode, exciting news for fans considering the two-year wait between the season 2 and season 3 of the third season show.

The start of the fourth season of Succession is set to air just days after the cast hit the red carpet at the series premiere in New York on March 20. Of course, all of the Roys were in attendance, which some actors teased about what fans can expect. with waystar tycoon RoyCO and his power-hungry family.

Season 3 ended on a massive cliffhanger, including when Matthew Macfadyen's Tom Wambsgans threw his wife (Shiv) and family under the bus by telling Brian Cox's Logan Roy of his plan. Macfadyen, who won an Emmy for his supporting role, gave Deadline a glimpse of what viewers can expect from his character once the season premieres.

"They broke up, Tom and Shiv, they're in pretty bad shape," the actor said, "they haven't really talked about it." Macfadyen added, "He's also a bit affected by Logan. Logan is hot and cold and (Tom) isn't sure he's put all his eggs in the right basket."

Meanwhile, Succession creator Jesse Armstrong has revealed his feelings about a spinoff series. "I think it would be a fun board game to play with my friends, but I wouldn't say so publicly because it could be misinterpreted," he told the outlet. "I would write for all of them, but I don't think any of them are worthy of a proper TV spin-off."

Along with being the creator and showrunner, Armstrong served as executive producer on Season 4 alongside Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod, Tony Roche, Scott Ferguson, Jon Brown, Lucy Prebble , Will Tracy and Will Ferrell. .

 

Along with the announcement that the fourth season of Succession is underway, HBO has released a synopsis detailing how the new season will follow the events of December's shocking finale.

The tagline for the fourth season reads, "The sale of media group Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson is nearing life once the deal is done. A power struggle ensues as the family contemplates a future in which its cultural and political influence is greatly reduced."
