MANILA -- (UPDATED) Following months of conjecture, Kapamilya singer Kim Chiu on Saturday verified that she and long-time boyfriend Xian Lim had split up.
Declaring it the "end of a love story," Chiu said in an emotional Instagram post that she and Lim had called it quits following a nearly 12-year romance.
"We honor each other's healing time even though we owe our supporters the truth. Love is usually a major determinant in a relationship, but sometimes it is insufficient," Chiu added. "We shared many lovely memories, each other's support system, and more than ten years of love."
The "Linlang" star claims that the split was decided upon both sides.
"We decided together to turn our relationship into what we intend to be a lifetime friendship. As we start new chapters of our life, we appreciate all of our followers for their love and support; but, now we ask you to value our honesty and respect for privacy. To all of our supporters, maraming salamat for all the love and understanding," she stated.
Chiu also wrote a note for her ex partner on the Instagram post, which highlighted some of their tender moments caught on video over years.
"To Xi, thank you for the over twelve years of wonderful memories shared. My heart will always hold you in a different capacity. I appreciate you showing me what love is.
The "It's Showtime!" host asked the audience to be understanding as they strive to recover and go on their lives apart.
"I kindly beg for everyone's respect as we finish this chapter of our life. As we all continue with our lives, I hope this clears everything," Chiu remarked.
