Gigi Hadid is championing the nude dress trend at the 2023 Met Gala, but with a twist.
The model ascended the coveted staircase of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where visitors honored the late designer Karl Lagerfeld with this year's dress code while wearing a daring all-black and sheer gown, custom-made by Givenchy. The dress featured sheer black fabric that draped over one of Hadid's shoulders and extended into an extremely long train, with a strapless bustier underneath. The sheer skirt had hip slits and a gathered center.
To complete the standout look, Hadid wore black pumps, a pearl and diamond choker and pearl earrings.
She attended last year's event in a stunning burgundy Versace ensemble. The outfit featured a shiny cherry red jumpsuit that was cinched at the waist with a matching corset. She donned a voluminous, shimmering coat drenched in a matching shade of brown. A pair of red shoes, a jeweled red necklace and a bright red lip completed the look.
Prior to that, the Guest in Residence Old Hollywood founder was channeled at the 2021 Met Gala, where she wore a strapless white Prada gown paired with black leather opera gloves and crystal-encrusted pumps. At the time, she dyed her usual blonde hair a deep red, which she wore in a retro-inspired ponytail.
The point is not to get distracted by yourself or even look in the mirror. It's about being able to look at the camera and then in your blurry view there's your shape," she said. "It trains a model to understand how she fits into the photo, that's why I became a model. Of course, I'm not saying this in a disrespectful way towards women, but you have to see yourself as an object or a fashion object or a sculpture.
