After nearly 25 years in the content world, I've heard over and over again a complaint that can take different forms: "No, the people appreciate what I do!" or “You don't understand the impact of what I do.” The worst part is that the claims are mostly true. Organizations don't understand the work involved in content projects because we tell our story the wrong way.
LavaCon aims to raise awareness of its role and the valuable work it does and we are excited to launch LavaCon Content Impact Awards. These awards support our community, advance the profession, and reinforce the ideas shared by experts who speak at LavaCon conferences.

The contents of LavaCon The Impact Awards recognize content professionals who have used content, user experience or technical communications to positively impact their organization. The award is not a competition to determine who has had the greatest or best influence, but rather a way to recognize the many achievements that content professionals are achieving by expanding their sphere of influence, enabling organizational change, and ensuring the success of clients.
Tell us how you and your team have significantly contributed to the way content is generated in your company. Have you created a portal to consolidate content across multiple silos? Or perhaps you've simplified the way your group writes content by switching to structured writing? Have you reduced costs or reduced the number of technical support calls? We want to know!

The entry process is simple: visit the Content Impact Awards website, read the award overview and rules, and submit your story using a simple form There is no cost to participate and there can be multiple recipients Registration deadline: September 30, 2023
Winners will receive a digital certificate, their story will be published on the LavaCon website and promoted through our social media accounts. More winners will be invited to share their their story to present one. They will attend the next LavaCon conference, where they will receive the full conference registration, completely free of charge.

Nonetheless, LavaCon is something beyond a meeting. It's a social occasion place where content experts share best practices, network with friends, and construct connections that will keep going long into the future.
LavaCon 2023 will be 14-17 October at the Manchester Terrific Hyatt in radiant San Diego, California.
