Twitch is one of the leading live-streaming platforms. It receives an average of 30 million daily visitors who watch over 7 million streams. Twitch live streaming has completely changed the way we use video games for entertainment. Many people now enjoy watching others play rather than getting involved themselves. Although Twitch theoretically supports most types of streaming, it's no secret that game streaming is its cornerstone. Traditionally, most people come to Twitch to watch people play and listen to them play. But what games do they watch the most? Are the popular games on Twitch the same as the best sellers you can buy from a game store, or more online these days via Steam, EA or another game company?

If you look at the list below, you'll notice a surprising variety in the type of games played. In fact, some of the top categories on Twitch have nothing to do with gaming. You'll see fighting games, sports games, battle royales, MMORPGs, and even gambling games.

Obviously popular game streamers who are on Twitch games change over time, sometimes from day to day. So we used data from Twitch Stats to select the most popular games on Twitch for the year to date. These represent the average viewers of a Twitch game. We also show the overall ranking of games that are in the top 50 of all time on Twitch.

Surprisingly, we're starting this list of most-watched games on Twitch with something that isn't a game at all. But the fact that "Just Chatting" is now the channel the most popular on Twitch is too important to mention As the name suggests, Just Chatting is for streamers to chat with their viewers instead of playing the game.

This shows that Twitch isn't just for gaming. Interestingly, it also highlights that Twitch isn't just used by Western teenagers. The main streaming language on the Just Chatting channel is Spanish, followed by English, Korean, Portuguese and Russian.
