The sequel to the 2019 Shazam movie, titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods is already in theaters. The movie made headlines for a while for both positive and negative reasons. Shazam 2 has an appearance from Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and that too is debatable. Some of the images have been doing the rounds of the internet lately, leaving fans to doubt that Gal's role was created using deepfake technology.
Director David F. Sandberg has now come out to defend Zachary Levi's leading man. That's what he has to say about it! It was previously rumored that a model named Taylor played Cahill Gadot's version of the superhero character. Footage proving Cahill's involvement in the DCU film has gone viral on the internet. The film is strongly criticized by Internet users because of these images.
A Twitter user named Maybegrayson shared images of BTS from the sets of Shazam 2, which featured a body double alongside actors Zachary Levi and Djimon Hounsou. The user captioned the post, "Wait, they're impersonating Gal Gadot's face in Taylor Cahill's face for Shazam! Wrath of the gods??!" Director David F. Sandberg has taken the time of his busy life to address the issue and set the record straight once and for all.
In the comments section of the article, Sandberg detailed Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman cameo fiasco in Shazam 2. He wrote, "We shot the scene with Taylor to determine what coverage we needed to get with Gal. since she couldn't make it to Atlanta." . It's also Taylor's body with the wizard's head. There are absolutely no deepfakes. When you see Gal, it's 100% her." He added: "That's the approach we took for Superman in Shazam 1. Shoot a double first, then use Cavill to provide the necessary cover. Only the second part never happened in Shazam 1. ."
For the record, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman makes an appearance in Shazam 2 at a pivotal moment. It wouldn't be wrong if we said this might be the last time we see her as Diana Prince in the DCU. But there are rumors that she could reprise her role in Aquaman 2.
