For the Los Angeles Rams' Week 8 Thursday nights of football matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp made a comeback to the starting lineup. Additionally, the Rams seemed revitalized with their top two pass-catching targets healthy again.

On Thursday night, Los Angeles defeated Minnesota 30–20, handing the Rams their second consecutive defeat. Together, Kupp and Nacua hauled in 12 receptions, 157 yards, and a score. Matthew Stafford, the quarterback, ended the game with 4 touchdowns, 1 interception, and 279 passing yards while playing 25 of 34.

The Vikings' defense, which had been excellent throughout the season, put up one of its poorest games. The Rams' first drive resulted in their first first-quarter touchdown of the season, while Minnesota's defense gave up 28 points, which was third-most behind the Detroit Lions' 31 and Green Bay Packers' 29 in Week 4 respectively.

Christian Darrisaw, the team's standout left lineman who signed a four-year, $113 million contract deal this summer, suffered a knee injury, which further hurt the NFC North contender. Late in the first half, an offensive lineman was rolled up on by a Rams defender, and he was almost immediately ruled out for the rest of the game.

Highlights of the Vikings vs. Rams game

Rams are protected and manage to escape the facemask penalty.

After sacking Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold in the end zone, Los Angeles had increased their advantage to ten points. The referees did not call a penalty even though Darnold's face mask was used to make the tackle. The play cannot be reviewed.

With 1:36 left in the game, Rams running back Kyren Williams recovered an onside kick that Minnesota had tried.

The Rams win 30–20.

Demarcus Robinson scores again as the Rams increase their advantage.

Robinson outran the Vikings' zone coverage in the end zone with a superb post-corner route. Stafford extended the Rams' advantage with his fourth throwing touchdown, finding his target in the back-right quadrant of the end zone.

Will Reichard pulls the Vikings into one while remaining flawless.

The rookie kicker is 20-for-20 on PATs and 14-for-14 on field goal attempts after seven games. His 35-yard field goal two minutes into the fourth quarter reduced his team's deficit to one point.

Third-quarter finish: Vikings 17, Rams 21

After starting the season with five consecutive victories, Minnesota faces the possibility of losing for the second time in a row with 15 minutes remaining. To start the fourth quarter, the Vikings will have the ball on the Los Angeles 48-yard line on third-and-three.
