How Many Times Did Brooke Shields Marry?

Brooke Shields and Scott Baio were both child stars and teen idols (seen here at a joint event in 1978), and although their courtship seemed perfect, Shields wrote in her 2015 memoir There Was a little girl: The real story of my mother and me that their dates were for the show; Even Baio admitted that Shields was "just a friend".

John Travolta

Shields and John Travolta had released movies (Endless Love for her and Blow Out for him) when Shields' high-profile mother Teri played matchmaker between her 16-year-old daughter and the 27-year-old star in 1981. The relationship was platonic, and the actors developed an affection for each other. "Brooke exudes kindness," Travolta said at the time. "She's not spoiled. You don't want anyone to hurt her or say bad things because she's special."

Michael Jackson

Shields and Michael Jackson, who met when they were 13 and 19, respectively, had all the makings of a perfect couple except for kissing. "We just felt safe," said Shields, who Jackson presented with a ring (pictured with her at a 1984 event). "We watched movies, ate candy and laughed at the craziness around us... We had sex, but it wasn't romantic at all."

Dean Cain

Before being Superman at Lois & Clark, Dean was Cain Shields' friend and classmate at Princeton. "We were crazy about each other," she said of the man she dated for two years and lost her virginity to. "He was incredibly patient with me when it came to sex. But even when mom wasn't around, I felt like she was watching." In a 2023 cover issue for PEOPLE, Shields opened up about her regrets about how things ended between the two, saying she was "paralyzed with shame" and how she apologized to Cain years earlier. "I said to him, 'I'm sorry for you and I'm really sorry for me,'" he said.

Liam Neeson

After graduating from Princeton and ending her relationship with Cain, Shields was wooed with poetry and wine by Liam Neeson (pictured with her at a 1992 screening of The Ox) "I was so shocked to be dating a real movie star," she wrote in her memoir. “After only three months, we got serious. He asked me to marry him without a ring. Shortly after their relationship broke up, Neeson moved on with his Nell co-star and future wife Natasha Richardson.

Andre Agassi

Hields met tennis pro Andre Agassi in 1993 and they started dating the old fashioned way: by fax! "We began to communicate through long, confusing faxes about life and God and the strange burden of fame and overwhelming parenthood," she wrote in her memoir. "We knew somewhere deep down that we needed each other." Love quickly turned to jealousy when Agassi made a scene on the set of Friends when Shields played a Joey-obsessed fan. However, the couple married in 1997 but divorced two years later. According to Shields, the breakup was the result of Agassi's methamphetamine addiction, which he later revealed to her years after their relationship. In March 2022, Shields sold the Los Angeles home she bought when she was married to Agassi for $7.4 million.

George Michael

"It was definitely one sided," she writes of her crush on George Michael (here with her at a party in 2000), who later came out as gay. One night at an event, Michael drove her home in a limo, but when it came time to finalize the deal, he wrapped things up by saying he wanted to "focus on [his] career.

Chris Henchy

Shields and then-Spin City executive producer Chris Henchy became friends while working together on NBC's 1998 Christmas special in Washington. After ending her marriage to Agassi, Shields and Henchy's romance blossomed and in 2001 they married in a surprise ceremony in Marina. Del Rey, Calif. "If there's a moment where I don't feel safe...just say, 'You know, you're beautiful,'" she told PEOPLE. "And I know it comes from a righteous place." Two daughters and more than two decades later, they are still going strong.
