The Hollywood Vampires have postponed the first three dates of their 2023 tour after frontman Johnny Depp suffered a "painful ankle injury".

On Monday, May 29, a day before the resurrected American rock supergroup was due to start touring, they announced the "sad" news that they would be postponing three concerts scheduled for this week.

"Johnny suffered a painful ankle injury following his recent performances and his doctor has advised him not to travel," they wrote in a statement shared on Instagram.

"He is devastated by this turn of events but hopes to rest so the four vampires can do their best on their trip to Europe."

Their first three performances, scheduled for Tuesday (May 30) in Manchester, New Hampshire, Wednesday (May 31) in Boston, Massachusetts, and Thursday (June 1) in Bethel, New York, are instead in July. .

All tickets are valid for the new dates: Boston on July 28, Manchester on July 29 and Bethel on July 30.

The band, originally formed in 2012 by Depp and core Aerosmith members Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, first announced in 2022 that they would be reuniting for a 2023 tour alongside rhythm guitarist Tommy Henriksen .

His reactivation announcement came days after the Pirates of the Caribbean actor won his libel case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

In June 2022, a jury found that Heard defamed Depp on all three counts and awarded him $10m (£8m) in compensatory damages and $5m (£4m sterling) for punitive damages. Heard was awarded $2m (£1.6m) in damages, but no punitive damages.

At the recent world premiere of his new film Jeanne du Barry at the Cannes Film Festival, Depp pointed out that Hollywood "boycotted" him after the trial.

"Do I feel like I'm being boycotted by Hollywood? You wouldn't need to have a pulse at this point to feel, 'None of this is happening, it's just a joke. weird: you've slept for 35 years!"
