The movie is rated R for "strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore, and sexual references." Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine in the movie as well. Prior to that, Deadpool's previous two movies, which debuted in theaters in 2016 and 2018, were both rated R.
Reynolds, Jackman, and director Shawn Levy were questioned by Variety if they believed the movie was appropriate for younger audiences.
Levy started, "I don't want to get in trouble by encouraging—" Reynolds responded, "I do, but it's definitely R-rated. A lot of children have watched Deadpool And Wolverine Parents Guide. My own children have witnessed it. It is never given a R rating merely for show. It's mostly just the character. The persona is really crude. Inside the skull of a seven-year-old, his brain resembles a half-eaten omelet."
"I'm going to be responsible here," Jackman declared. Don't bring a two-year-old," Levy said with a chuckle. At three, we draw the line." Reynolds added, joking, "A 114-year-old should not be brought; they will not survive. Anyone using a diaper."

Numerous sexual allusions are made.
Ignorant sexual jokes are another characteristic of the Deadpool humor style. There are allusions to genitalia, sex acts, sexual harassment, and erections. For example, there is a reference to "blowjob handles" on some parts of Wolverine's mask.
Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige told Variety that he had to teach the term "pegging" to certain employees of the studio due to a joke in the film.
Feige informed the site, "There's a line in the red-band trailer about pegging. You don't have to write this in the article, for crying out loud." "I am aware of pegging; the first Deadpool film included it. However, several of the people I work with were unaware of its existence. I had to give them an explanation."
A few references to drug use are made.
Deadpool And Wolverine Parents Guide, there are multiple references to cocaine as Deadpool and Leslie Uggams' Blind Al discuss the substance and assign it code names. An example of one of those aliases is "the Devil's dandruff."
A joke in the film implies that producer Feige banned them from making any references to cocaine. He stated to Variety, "Anything was OK to us. It's possible that my views on drug use are a little conservative, but I thought, "Well, it's not that funny."
